Anyway we jumped into the car turned on the laptop (because the radio doesn't work, LOL) and started to drive. We originally had planned to make the "long" 2 hour drive to the other side of the island near Pafos, which is said to be the birthplace of Aphrodite! We were about halfway when Sloan, my puppy, was getting kind of antsy... I exited the highway and drove down toward the water. We found a little street that lead right to a beach so we went for a walk and collected some seashells and stones. Sloan LOVED playing at the beach and ran around like crazy!
We decided that since it was such a nice day we would talk the long route and drive along the coast rather than the highway...well 2 kilometers down the road we found a temple to Aphrodite and a bunch of old ruins. We got out of the car and paid the 2 euro ticket to enter the park. It was amazing because we were allowed to just wander through it picking up old things and pretty much going were ever we wanted to.
The day was amazing and we stopped fr dinner on the way home at a small resurtante called George's or something. We got the George burger that was SOOOOO good and had a local cheese on it and "bacon" which was a piece of ham! haha
I would tell you all about our adventure today but pictures (which can't even really do the view any justice)... will have to suffice...
First of all... Sandwich 800 calories, hmmm can you say added circuit training :)
ReplyDeleteSome added info for your friends... The temple you found was indeed the temple of Aphrodite. Young virgins would go there before they were married and "sell" their virginity to the highest bidder. That guaranteed them a comfortable life... If you drove a few more miles you would have come upon the Birthplace of Aphrodite :) and an hour after to the bath place of Aphrodite where she meet Adonis.
To all of you that are reading this... Jackie is never coming back. We are keeping her here for ever...
